Couturier tops FC’s November Draft Rankings

Sean Couturier is still the top dog. The Drummondville Voltigeurs standout is ranked first among available draftees in Future Considerations’ November rankings for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Couturier, who represented Team QMJHL in the Subway Super Series, has 14 goals and 34 points in 26 games this season.

But by no means is Couturier the consensus top pick.

He’s followed closely by Swedish defender Adam Larsson, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Red Deer Rebels and Kitchener Rangers standout Gabriel Landeskog.

Larsson, who has drawn comparisons to both Victor Hedman and Niklas Lidstrom, is considered the next big Swedish blueliner. He represented a talented Swedish club at the 2010 World Junior Championship at 16 and could go first overall if the team holding the top pick covets a defenseman.

Nugent-Hopkins has 25 assists and 30 points in 22 games this season and is representing Team WHL in the Subway Super Series. The slick playmaker boasts an impressive shot and could find himself on Team Canada in Buffalo at the upcoming World Junior Championship.

Nugent-Hopkins should face import Gabriel Landeskog of the Kitchener Rangers at the event. The Swedish captain has 17 goals and 31 points in 20 games in his second season in the Ontario Hockey League.

Ryan Murphy, Landeskog’s teammate in Kitchener, rounds out the top five. The Aurora, ON. native has 35 points in 20 games while patrolling the Rangers blueline.
