Jenner commits to the block on the PK and the CIS defenseman slides into some open room. Shot beats Visentin 5-hole. May have been tipped. 5-3 game.

Second Period Thoughts
-Hard to not think that Ceci makes Beaulieu a better defenseman. Ceci has really calmed him down.
-Toffoli’s emergence couldn’t come at a better time in a now-or-never situation.
-Though he is playing conservative, every time Murphy touches the puck he looks like he can be a game changer.
Scott Harrington hasn’t been noticeable, which is not necessarily a bad thing for a defenseman of his ilk.
-Danault picked up his play in the middle period and was rewarded for his increased efforts.

Danault with a garbage goal and Bournival with a lethal shot from the high slot to make it 5-2. Goals barely a minute apart.

Toffoli rings one right off the post. Great shot.

Visentin’s first work, two pad saves from in tight before steering a point shot into the corner with ease.

Team CIS
-Rattie shoots, misses net.
-Danault dekes, pad save Bunz.
-Ross deke, stick save Bunz.

-Connolly dekes. Glove save Wedgewood.
-Bournival dekes, pad save Wedgewood.
-Bulmer shot five-hole, stick save Wedgewood.

Danault buries a pass from Rattie in the slot. Tough play for Wedgewood. 3-2 Canada.

Jenner turns it over in the high slot of his own zone. Leads to a quality scoring chance for CIS.

Beaulieu sneaks down just off the slot in his usual spot. Wedgewood gets a pad on the first one, but Strome faked the pass and found him again for another one-timer for the goal.

Bulmer draws a slashing penalty breaking into the CIS zone on a good little rush with a burst of speed.

Puck goes high in the air in front of Bunz. Oleksiak wins the jump ball and bats it away with his glove.

First Period Thoughts
-The pairing of Beaulieu and Ceci have been pretty impressive, Ceci in particular.
-Connolly has played with a lot more jam. He is doing a lot of really good things on the ice.
-Pearson, Boone Jenner and Toffoli have really clicked as a line, establishing a good cycle on a few different occasions.
-Strome is showing more urgency in his game, something he needs to do to ensure he makes the team.

CIS goes up 2-0 with another PP goal. Deflection again on Bunz

5-on-3 for CIS after Jamie Oleksiak‘s delay of game penalty. CIS scores on a puck that may have been tipped by a Canadian defender

Toffoli and Phil Di Giuseppe with a beautiful 2-on-1 give and go. Puck hopes over Toffoli’s stick on the return pass, otherwise an empty netter.

Ryan Strome, who some may consider a bubble player, showing good second and third efforts in the offensive zone.

Good shift from Alex Petrovic. Hard point shot on net and a hard hit at his own blueline.

Beautiful back door pass from Nathan Beaulieu to Tyler Toffoli. There’s that Beaulieu PP expertise.

Ty Rattie breaks in on his backhand and lets go a shot that Wedgewood handles. He draws a power play on the rush.

Brett Connolly playing with both smarts and passion, which bodes well for him. This game might be the wake-up call for him.
