Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants has been named the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Week.

Byram, sixth in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2019 NHL Draft, had six points (three goals, three assists) and a plus-6 rating in two games this weekend.

The 17-year-old set a franchise record for points in a game by a Giants’ defenseman with five, scoring twice and adding three assists for the first five-point game of his WHL career. Byram had previously recorded three points on three separate occasions. He also scored one goal on Sunday.

Byram, the third overall pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, has 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 40 games this season.
