Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants has been named Western Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending March 31.

Byram, fourth in Future Considerations’ spring ranking for the 2019 NHL Draft, had six points (two goals, four assists) and a plus-7 rating in four games to help the Giants to a first round series win against the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 2019 WHL Playoffs.

The 17-year-old has eight points (three goals, five assists) in the 2019 playoffs, ranking him second in scoring amongst defensemen.

In 13 career WHL playoffs games, Byram has 15 points (six goals, nine assists).

Byram had 71 points (26 goals, 45 assists) in 67 regular season games this season. His 26 goals led all Canadian Hockey League defensemen, and his 71 points ranked him third in scoring in the WHL among blueliners.

In 138 career regular season games, Byram has 98 points (32 goals, 66 assists).

He was originally selected third overall in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
