Byfield among invites for Canada’s NJT Summer Camp

Twenty-two players eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft will attend Hockey Canada’s virtual National Junior Team Summer Development Camp on July 27-31, 2020.

Hockey Canada announced its 41-player roster Tuesday.

Quinton Byfield, No. 2 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2020 NHL Draft, will headline the attendees. Byfield is one of seven attendees that helped Canada to gold at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship in January.

Forwards Mavrik Bourque (No. 19), Tyson Foerster (No. 24), Dylan Holloway (No. 15), Seth Jarvis (No. 11), Hendrix Lapierre (No. 27), Dawson Mercer (No. 13), Cole Perfetti (No. 9), Jacob Perreault (No. 23), Jack Quinn (No. 20), and Connor Zary (No. 17), and defensemen Jamie Drysdale (No. 7), Kaiden Guhle (No. 25), Braden Schneider (No. 21) were among the invitees. Each is ranked in the first round of FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2020 draft.

Shane Wright, a projected top pick for the 2022 NHL Draft, was also invited to attend.

Alexis Lafreniere, the consensus top pick for the 2020 draft, has been invited but is not required to attend.

The 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship is scheduled this December in Edmonton and Red Deer, AB.
