FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB – Future Considerations today announced Mathew Barzal of Team Canada as the World Under-18 edition of the Pacific4 Sports Management draft eligible Forward of the Month for April.

Barzal, who plays for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, was dominant at the World Under-18 Championship in Zug and Lucerne, Switzerland. The 17-year-old recorded three goals and 12 points in seven games in helping Canada to a bronze finish.

“Barzal was the ultimate playmaker for the Canadian squad and despite being shut out of the tournament All-Star voting he was the straw that stirred Canada’s drink,” Future Considerations scouting director Dan Stewart said. “He really took over games with his slick puck skills, vision and dangerous passes. Teams did not know if he was going to dish it off or take a crackling shot himself which added to his effectiveness.”

Barzal, currently ranked 11th by Future Considerations, had 12 goals and 57 points in 44 games for the Thunderbirds in the regular season and added four goals and eight points in six playoff games.

Pacific4 Sports Management is a boutique hockey firm focused on the management and representation of elite hockey players.
