Tappara forward Aleksander Barkov left Wednesday’s quarterfinal match-up with shoulder injury and did not return.

The 2013 NHL Draft eligible prospect suffered the injury on his first shift against HIFK, apparently catching his arm between the glass and boards.

Though Tappara won the game and advanced to the semifinal, Barkov isn’t expected to return this season.

Barkov, fourth in Future Considerations’ March ranking for the 2013 draft and the top-ranked European, has four assists in five playoff games after recording 21 goals and 48 points in 53 regular season games – finishing ninth in league scoring.
