Barkov named U20 Four Nations MVP

The accolades for Aleksander Barkov in his draft season continue to pile up.

The highly regarded forward was named most valuable player at the U20 Four Nations Tournament in Sundsvall, Sweden while helping Finland to a silver medal finish.

Barkov, third in Future Considerations October ranking for the 2013 NHL Draft, had three assists in three games and finished with a plus-2 rating and was on the ice for eight of Finland’s nine goals in the tournament. A centre, the Tampere product was also exceptional in the faceoff dot winning 59.32 per cent of his draws.

He wasn’t the only 2013 eligible to receive praise from the tournament.

Linus Arnesson, who missed being eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft by a week, was named the tournament’s top defenseman. Arnesson had one goal and two assists in the tournament
