The Colorado Avalanche made a big splash on June 25th after selecting both Gabriel Landeskog and Duncan Siemens in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The club made more waves by signing the duo to entry level deals Thursday.

“We are pleased to have both Gabriel and Duncan under contract,” Colorado general manager and executive V.P. Greg Sherman said in a team released statement. “We look forward to them participating in their first training camp this fall.”

Regarded as the most NHL-ready player in the draft, the six-foot-one, 205-pound Landeskog is expected to compete for a roster spot on the Avalanche this season. The left winger, selected second overall, scored 36 goals and 66 points in 53 games last season with the Kitchener Rangers.

Siemens had 43 points and 121 penalty minutes in 72 games patrolling the blueline for the Saskatoon Blades last year. The defenseman, selected 11th overall, will attend Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Development Camp in August and is a candidate to represent Canada at the 2012 World Junior Championship.

Landeskog and Siemens join Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Adam Larsson, Sven Bartschi, Jonas Brodin, Mika Zibanejad and Marcel Noebels as 2011 draftees to ink up with their NHL club.

JT Miller, also drafted in the first round in 2011, signed with the New York Rangers Thursday.
