Avalanche win Draft Lottery, order set

The Colorado Avalanche found some luck in a difficult season.

The Avalanche won the NHL Draft Lottery and the right to the first overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft Monday night.

Colorado will have the option to select between the likes of the top-ranked Portland Winterhawks defenseman Seth Jones or half of the Halifax Mooseheads duo in Nathan MacKinnon or Jonathan Drouin.

With an 18.8 per cent chance, Colorado moved from second to first in the draft order. Despite finishing last in the regular season, the Florida Panthers will select second.

Here is the order of the first 14 picks of the 2013 NHL Draft:

2nd: Florida Panthers
3rd: Tampa Bay Lightning
4th: Nashville Predators
5th: Carolina Hurricanes
6th: Calgary Flames
7th: Edmonton Oilers
8th: Buffalo Sabres
9th: New Jersey Devils
10th: Dallas Stars
11th: Philadelphia Flyers
12th: Phoenix Coyotes
13th: Winnipeg Jets
14th: Columbus Blue Jackets
