The Colorado Avalanche have selected Gabriel Landeskog second overall.

Many consider Landeskog the most NHL ready forward of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and his performance at the NHL combine did nothing to quell that rumour.

A physical specimen at six-foot-one and 205-pounds, the Swede shows a veteran discipline and always finishes his checks with a high level of grit, intensity and determination.

But the Kitchener Rangers captain isn’t all about grinding it out.

Landeskog possesses a heavy wrister that found the back of the net 36 times in 53 OHL games this season. Needless to say, he can finish. He can also dish the puck as well, but is more suited at putting the puck behind the net.

The youngest player to ever suit up in the Swedish Elite League at age 16, Landeskog possesses all the tools to be in the NHL next season.
