Draft eligible charged in fatal car accident
A junior-aged player eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has been charged in a fatal accident that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Saskatchewan woman. The highly touted 17-year-old WHL player was charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death. He was also charged with failing to provide a breath sample.

Red Deer Rebels centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was named the Jack Link’s Top Prospect of the Year, awarded to the player deemed to be the best draft eligible player in the Canadian Hockey League. Nugent-Hopkins finished the season with 31 goals and 106 points, the highest total of any CHL draft eligible player.

Junior player involved in fatal car accident
A 17-year-old Western Hockey League defenseman has been involved in a car accident just outside of Calgary that claimed the life of the female occupant – a Saskatchewan girl – early Saturday morning. The player, a member of the Regina Pats, was taken to hospital as a result of the accident. The Regina Pats issued a statement on the accident.
