Andersson, Davidsson invited to Sweden NJEC

Forwards Lias Andersson of HV 71 Jr. and Marcus Davidsson of Djurgardens Jr. are among the 25 players named to Sweden for the 2016 National Junior Evaluation Camp.

The camp will be held at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI., from July 30-August. 7, and will feature exhibition games against Finland, Canada and the United States.

Andersson had 24 goals and 59 points as an assistant captain with HV 71 J20 last season, and added five goals and nine points in seven games while serving as an assistant captain for Sweden at the 2016 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.

At 14th overall, Andersson is the second-highest ranked Swedish skater in Future Considerations’ preliminary ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft behind defenseman Timothy Liljegren. Liljegren is ranked second overall behind only Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nolan Patrick.

Davidsson had 17 goals and 40 points in 45 games for Djurgardens J20 in 2015-16, and added two goals and an assist in four games at the World Under-18’s. He also had three goals and three assists in 18 games representing Sweden at the under-18 level.

Davidsson is ranked 21st by Future Considerations.

Other 2017 eligibles invited include defenseman Kristoffer Gunnarsson of Frolunda, and forwards Jonathan Davidsson of Djurgarden, Linus Olund of Brynas, and Sebastian Ohlsson and Andreas Wingerli of Skelleftea.
