Nail Yakupov is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering an upper-body injury after being hit by Owen Sound Attack captain Michael Halmo Saturday.

Yakupov needed stitches to his mouth and looked dazed after taking the hit to the head from Halmo. He struggled to get up under his own power before being attended to by the team trainer and doctor. Halmo was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit. Halmo has also been suspended indefinitely by the league.

The Sarnia Sting will re-evaluate Yakupov Tuesday, according to the Sarnia Observer.

Yakupov has been Future Considerations’ top-ranked prospect for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft all season. He has 31 goals and 69 points in 42 games.
