Vilardi nets CHL Player of the Week nod

Tack on another honor for Gabe Vilardi.

The Windsor Spitfires standout has been named Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week one day after earning the Ontario Hockey League nod.

Vilardi netted three straight multi-point games and amassed four goals and five assists en route to earning the award.

The 17-year-old had three multi-point games, starting with a goal and an assist in a 4-3 overtime win against the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds. He was named second star in a 4-1 victory against the London Knights after recording two assists.

Vilardi, fifth overall in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, netted a career-high five points — including a hat trick — in a 7-1 win against the Sudbury Wolves.

In 43 games this season, Vilardi has 28 goals and 31 assists.
