Just two 2013 NHL Draft eligibles from Switzerland will have the opportunity to skate at the World Junior Championship.

Only first time draft eligibles Melvin Nyffeler and Mirco Mueller were among the 29 names on Switzerland’s preliminary roster for the World Junior Championship underway on Boxing Day.

The six-foot-four Mueller, who was the 11th overall pick in the CHL Import Draft, has 13 assists and 15 points in 31 games for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League and has represented Switzerland at the Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, including serving as captain for the Swiss entry at the 2012 World Under-18 Championship. The Winterthur product was one of 10 defensemen named to the preliminary roster.

Nyffeler, one of four goaltenders named to the roster, represented Switzerland at the World Junior A Challenge in November, recording a 2.18 goals against average and a .925 save percentage en route to a bronze medal finish.
