Ryan Falkenham will undergo surgery to repair labral tears and impingements in both hips and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season, the Halifax Mooseheads announced Friday.

“Having Ryan out for the season is a huge loss for our Hockey Club,” general manager Cam Russell told the Mooseheads website. “His character and leadership, on and off the ice, will be difficult to replace.”

Falkenham, eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft, had four goals and an assist in 14 games for the Mooseheads this season.
