Saarijarvi named Crash top defenseman

Press Release2015 Draft Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB – Future Considerations today announced Vili Saarijarvi of Finland as the World Under-18 edition of the Crash Conditioning draft eligible Defenseman of the Month for April.

Saarijarvi, who plays for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League, was one of the tournament’s most dangerous blueliners offensively, totaling three goals and nine points in just seven games to help Finland to a silver finish.

“He was a real weapon form the point with quick wrist shots or heavy one-time slappers directed on goal and timely passes to streaking forwards,” Future Considerations scouting director Dan Stewart said. “He was not on the squad for his defensive contributions, but when he had the puck he was able to showcase his smarts, vision, creativity and his rocket point shot.”

Saarijarvi had six goals and 23 points in 57 games for the Gamblers this season.
