Rankings Rewind: FC’s 3rd overalls

Aaron Vickers2016 Draft Center

With the 3rd overall selection in the National Hockey League Draft, Future Considerations selects…

Matt Duchene.

Since being selected third overall in 2009, Duchene has been a productive forward for the Colorado Avalanche. Only John Tavares has outscored him from his draft class while his 82 goals are also second among those selected from 2009.

Duchene was particularly offensive in the shortened season, recording 43 points in 47 games – a share of the team lead. In fact, the 22-year-old has led the Avalanche in scoring two of the past three seasons.
