With the 1st overall selection in the National Hockey League Draft, Future Considerations selects…

Steven Stamkos.

From the onset of being selected first overall in 2008, Stamkos has proved to be everything the Tampa Bay Lightning desired in marketing him as the next big NHL star. Before even entering the league, marketing campaigns were launched around ‘Seen Stamkos’ and the 23-year-old hasn’t disappointed in his first five years of professional hockey.

Few have scored at the pace of Stamkos, who has already won the Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard twice in his career. In just 373 career NHL games, Stamkos has 208 goals and 386 points as one of the league’s most prolific scorers.
