Rankings Rewind: FC’s 16th overalls

Aaron Vickers2016 Draft Center

With the 16th overall selection in the National Hockey League Draft, Future Considerations selects…

Emerson Etem.

The Long Beach, CA product was nabbed by the Anaheim Ducks 29th overall in 2011 and Etem has already started to show why he’s a value pick that late in the first round.

After an incredible season with the Medicine Hat Tigers after scoring 61 goals and recording 107 points, Etem made a difficult jump to professional hockey. The 20-year-old wasn’t nearly productive with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League this year with just 16 points in 45 games, but his 13 goals showed he could still score at the NHL level.

When the work stoppage ended, Etem got an opportunity at the NHL level. He played in 38 regular season games and recorded 10 points. It was in the playoffs, though, that Etem starred for the Ducks, recording three goals and five points before being ousted from contention.
