Rankings Rewind: FC’s 14th overalls

Aaron Vickers2016 Draft Center

With the 14th overall selection in the National Hockey League Draft, Future Considerations selects…

Ryan Ellis.

Selected 11th overall in 2009 after being named OHL defenseman of the year by the Nashville Predators, the offensive blueline wasted little time in adding to his collection of accolades. A second team all star in 2010, Ellis upped that to a first team nomination in 2011 when he was again named the OHL’s top rearguard and added CHL defenseman of the year.

The honors came months after being named best defenseman at the World Junior Championship, where he holds the record for most career points by a blueliner in tournament history.

Ellis has spent the past two seasons splitting time between the AHL and Predators, recording five goals and 17 points in 64 career NHL games.
