The future Wisconsin Badger is a very good skater who possesses great acceleration and top speed. He is smart with good hand skills and excellent hockey sense. He has a good shot with a quick release and can also set-up teammates with a well timed pass. He plays a solid overall game in all three zones. Stepan is dreadfully skinny and will need to pack on muscle in his time at Wisconsin. He is still very raw and is also hard to judge his upside with the poor level of competition he played against this past season. He doesn’t have much of a physical game at this point. (May 2008)
