Hodgson has outstanding vision and hockey sense are the top areas of strength for Hodgson’s game. The complete centre makes those around him better and is very responsible defensively as well. He skates very well with a wide balanced stride and has a quick accurate shot which complements his natural playmaking abilities. Hodgson plays the wall well with his good hands and puck protection ability. He displays good instincts on where to be on the ice when he doesn’t have the puck and get into position to best generate a scoring opportunity. His elusiveness is a major strength as is his attitude and willingness to compete and work hard. Despite his smaller size he drives the net and plays in all the dirty areas. (May 2008)
