The big and powerful Gustafsson owns a good skill set that bodes well for him as a pro. He skates well with good overall mobility although his top speed is only average. Gustafsson has soft hands and good offensive instincts which help him know where to be on the ice. He is a true two-way center who knows his defensive responsibilities and takes care of this own end just as intently as trying to produce offensively. He sees the ice well and has decent playmaking skills. Playing with players who are older than him he is still able to overpower some with his strength and his frame has plenty of room to fill out still. He is willing to play physical and has good effectiveness along the wall. He has a hard shot and can score from in close. (May 2008)
