Future Considerations announced today Nicolas Petan of the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League has been named draft eligible Forward of the Month for January.

Petan, who leads all WHL scorers in points this season with 93, flourished in the month of January with nine goals and 26 points in 13 games. The Delta, BC product was held pointless in just one game over the course of the month and recorded nine multi-point games.

For his performance, Petan has been named Future Considerations’ draft eligible Forward of the Month for January.

Also considered for the award was Valentin Zykov of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Zykov scored 16 goals and assisted on 10 more for 26 points and recorded at least a point in all 12 games played in the month of January. Heading into the month, the six-foot-one, 215-pound right winger had 22 goals and 36 points in 37 games.
