Patrick out, Shaw in for Team WHL

Nolan Patrick of the Brandon Wheat Kings will not represent Team WHL in the CIBC Canada Russia Series because of an injury.

Patrick, who tops Future Considerations’ Fall ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft,  has four goals and nine points in five games this season but has not played since Oct. 11.

Mason Shaw of the Medicine Hat Tigers, ranked 70th by Future Considerations, has been named as an injury replacement. Shaw, and Brad Morrison and Lane Pederson, have been added to Team WHL’s roster for the Canada Russia Series to replace Dillon Dube, Brett Howden, and Patrick.

Shaw currently leads the WHL in scoring with 27 points in 15 games. He has previously represented Canada at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, recording six assists and seven points.

In 106 career WHL regular season games, Shaw has 26 goals and 98 points.

Team Russia will compete against Team WHL in Game 1 of the Canada Russia Series on Nov. 7th in Prince George, BC before continuing on to Edmonton for Game 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 8th. They will face Team OHL in Game 3 of the series in North Bay on Nov. 10, with Game 4 in Hamilton on Nov. 14. Team Russia finishes the series with two games against Team QMJHL on Nov. 15 and Nov. 17.
