Nolan Patrick didn’t have to wait for his first honor of the season.

Patrick, the top-ranked prospect in Future Considerations’ preliminary ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, was named the 59th captain in Brandon Wheat Kings history.

He will replace graduated defenseman Macoy Erkamps.

The 18-year-old has 73 goals and 162 points in 132 regular season games with the Wheat Kings over three seasons. He has 21 goals and 45 points in 49 career playoff games, and was named WHL Playoffs MVP in helping Brandon to the Ed Chynoweth Cup as League champions last spring.

Patrick was originally selected fourth overall by the Wheat Kings in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
