Ryan Murray has received a lot of honours in his young hockey career. He received another Tuesday.

The Everett Silvertips defenseman who has been given the ‘C’ for his WHL club next season was named Canada’s captain for the World Under-18 Championship beginning Friday in Germany.

Murray, projected to be a top pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is the only returnee from last year’s team and will look to avenge a seventh place finish in Belarus in which he was held pointless in six games.

Also earning letters are Sarnia Sting right winger Brett Ritchie and London Knights defenseman Scott Harrington. Both are eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft this June in Minnesota.
