Mittelstadt named Mr. Hockey candidate

Top-ranked NHL Draft eligible Casey Mittelstadt is among the ten candidates announced by the Minnesota Minute Men for the 33rd Mr. Hockey Award.

The Mr. Hockey Award is given to the outstanding senior high school boys’ hockey player in Minnesota. It is selected by a panel of NHL scouts, junior scouts and coaches, and selected media members from the state.

Mittelstadt leads Eden Prairie with 18 goals and 57 points, and ranks second in the state with 39 assists. He has points in 21 of 23 games this season, and has recorded four or more points in six games.

He is third in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Matt Anderson (Holy Family), Noah Cates (Stillwater), Nick Leivermann (Eden Prairie), Ben Meyers (Delano), Micah Miller (Grand Rapids), Casey Mittelstadt (Eden Prairie), Bauer Neudecker (St. Louis Park), Nick Perbix (Elk River), Dylan Samberg (Hermantown) and Ryan Sandelin (Hermantown) were also named as candidates.

Past winners of the Mr. Hockey Award include Riley Tufte (2016), Kyle Rau (2011), Nick Bjugstad (2010), Nick Leddy (2009), Aaron Ness (2008), Ryan McDonagh (2007) and Paul Martin (2000).
