McDonald named DoubleBlue Goalie of the Month

CALGARY, AB — Future Considerations today announced Mason McDonald as the Double Blue Sports draft eligible Goaltender of the Month for April.

McDonald was outstanding in representing Canada at the 2014 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, helping his country to bronze after posting a 1.94 goals against average and .930 save percentage in six starts. McDonald allowed just 12 goals in the tournament, including just one in a 38-save performance over Sweden to help Canada to medal. He was named the tournament’s top goaltender.

The Halifax, NS native earned the opportunity after going 8-15-1-2 with a 3.44 goals against average and .900 save percentage in 29 appearances with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL this season. He also went 3-7-1 with a 3.57 goals against average and an .887 save percentage in 13 games with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

He is currently 33rd in Future Considerations’ May ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft
