2012 NHL Entry Draft eligible Portland Winterhawks forward Brendan Leipsic has been suspended five games for his hit on Mackenzie Royer of the Tri City Americans.

Leipsic was given ‘Five under supplemental discipline versus Tri-Cities on September 30,’ according to the Western Hockey League’s website. Leipsic wasn’t penalized on the play. Royer suffered an upper body injury as a result and is listed as week-to-week.

In four games this season, Leipsic has one goal and one assist.

Leipsic suffered a concussion this offseason while attending Canada’s selection camp for the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
