The Winnipeg Jets have selected Mark Scheifele of the Barrie Colts with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Much like Mark McNeill, Scheifele is a centre that can contribute in all three zones on the ice. Where Shceifele excels is with his long, powerful skating stride which compliments his six-foot-two, 185-pound frame.

Finding a glaring weakness in the forward’s game is difficult to do. With his excellent wheels, good vision, smart hockey sense, decent puck-handling abilities and a good, accurate shot, there isn’t much to not like about the game of Scheifele.

Perhaps the only knock on the standout for Canada’s U18 entry is the fact that he doesn’t possess a flash that makes fans jump out of their seats. Instead, Scheifele will continue to go about his business on the ice as he sees fit, which will likely result in a long, productive career for the OHLer.
