Gaunce gets Canadian U18 nod

Brendan Gaunce is going to the Czech Republic.

The Belleville Bulls forward took to Twitter Wednesday to announce his participation in the World Under-18 Championship in the Czech Republic later this month.

“So much for being home for the summer. Off to the airport to stay for the day before flying to Czech for U18’s!” tweeted Gaunce Wednesday.

Gaunce his the highest profile member of Canada to date, joining Brandon Whitney, Anthony Mantha,  William Carrier and Troy Bourke. The six-foot-two, 205-pound forward had 28 goals and 68 points in 68 games this season.

A potential first rounder in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Gaunce also hinted at Kerby Rychel‘s participation. Rychel is eligible to be drafted in 2013.
