The Sarnia Sting may have lost Nail Yakupov, but they’re about to get a boost from the return of another 2012 draft eligible.

Alex Galchenyuk, ranked third for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by Future Considerations, will be back in the Sarnia Sting lineup tomorrow night the team has announced.

Galchenyuk has missed all of the regular season, after suffering a knee injury in a 2011-2012 preseason game. Galchenyuk hit a rut in the ice and twisted his leg before falling to the ice. Scouts have been left twiddling their thumbs and awaiting the arrival of the skilled center.

“It’s a very exciting day both for Alex and his family along with our organization,” Sting general manager Jacques Beaulieu told Norman James. “It was unfortunate this injury occurred however injuries are a part of the game and we have all dealt with it as best we could. This is a testament to Alex and the work ethic he possesses. It was truly incredible to watch how hard Alex worked throughout his rehabilitation. Also a lot of credit needs to be given to Dr. Giffin and his staff at the Fowler Clinic and our entire team of Doctors including Dr. Vargo and Dr. Barwitzki”

His arrival comes on the heels of Sarnia losing Yakupov to injury this past weekend. In the midst of a push for a long post season run, the return of Galchenyuk is a big boost for the stacked Sting.

In 68 games last season, Galchenyuk recorded 31 goals and 83 points after being selected first overall in the OHL Draft.
