Formenton tops CHL fitness testing

Alex Formenton is at the top of his class.

Formenton, 77th in Future Considerations’ Winter ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft, finished first in on-ice testing at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Testing included forward and backward sprints, reaction, weave agility, and transition agility each performed with and without the puck.

Defenseman Antoine Crete-Belzile finished second, and Markus Phillips finished third. Nico Hischier, ranked fourth by Future Considerations, finished fourth in testing while Michael Rasmussen, ranked 20th, finished fifth.

Defenseman Jacob Paquette led off-ice testing, which included strength testing, agility runs, sprints, and various leg power evaluations. Morgan Frost, ranked 53rd, finished second, and Owen Tippett, sixth, finished third. Formenton also finished fourth in off-ice testing, and Isaac Ratcliffe, ranked 29th, finished fifth.

Michael DiPietro, the top-ranked netminder at Future Considerations, claimed top honours in an array of reaction, agility, and movement challenges for goaltenders.
