FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB – Future Considerations Hockey today announced Haydn Fleury as the Franchise Hockey Manager draft eligible Defenseman of the Month for December.

Fleury, a product of Carlyle, SK, showcased his talent at both ends of the rink. Offensively, the 6-foot-3, 198-pound defenseman registered nine assists and 10 points in 10 games playing, pushing him into the top-20 in defensemen scoring in the Western Hockey League.

The 17-year-old, who will skate in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in January, was also a rock in his own end, recording a plus-5 rating in December.

“Fleury is a big two-way defenseman that has taken big strides forward in virtually every aspect of his game,” Future Considerations WHL head scout Zenon Herasymiuk said. “His mix of athleticism and smarts have allowed him to contribute at both ends of the ice. Fleury plays big minutes in all situations and has a unique combination of tools which will make him a highly sought after player at the 2014 draft.”

Also considered for the award was Roland McKeown of the Kingston Frontenacs. McKeown, 12th in Future Considerations’ January ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft, recorded three goals and 11 points in eight games.
