FC releases preliminary ranking for 2012 NHL Draft

Dan Stewart2013 Draft Center, Draft Rankings

With the 2011 draft in the books, the focus for many amateur scouts now turns to the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Much like them, Future Considerations is also turning its attention to 2012.

And there are names already turning heads.

The Sarnia Sting’s electric tandem are just two of the talented prospects making names for themselves a year or two before they are eligible for the NHL Entry Draft. Both Nail Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk are set to battle each other for the 2012 throne, while another Russian – Mikhail Grigorenko – will toss his hat into the battle as well.

But what about the defensemen?

Both Ryan Murray of the Everett Silvertips and Nick Ebert of the Windsor Spitfires aren’t about to let themselves be forgotten. The blueliners possess enough pure talent and skill to be bandied about as potential top picks as well. Jacob Truba, Morgan Reilly, Griffin Reinhart and Matt Dumba would also like to be part of that conversation as well.

The 2012 draft as a whole looks to be rich in some of the most electric high end talent we have seen in years. Some high scoring forwards and big strong defensemen are available and have NHL scouts excited to hit the road come next fall. The 2012 draft already looks to have great depth well into the third round.
