With the final pick of the first round in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Anaheim Ducks have selected Plymouth Whalers forward Rickard Rakell.

The Sollentuna, SWE. native plays larger than his six-foot, 190-pound frame would suggest. An agitator who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around, Rackell also possesses good, but unspectacular offensive talent. Where he shines offensively is his willingness to go into high traffic areas and spots that he can battle, both for the puck and position.

A player you love to play with and hate to play against, Rackell’s style is similar to Tomas Holmstrom of the Detroit Red Wings.
