It’s the most important season in the young hockey career of Colton Sissons, and the Kelowna Rockets just made it a little more exciting.

The Rockets have named the 17-year-old Sissons captain for the 2011/12 season.

Sissons is in just his second year with the Rockets. In his rookie campaign last year, the North Vancouver, BC. native had 17 goals and 41 points in 63 games last season, ninth among all rookies in the Western Hockey League.

The six-foot-one, 189-pound right winger is regarded as one of the best forwards from the WHL eligible for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He was one of 37 prospects invited to the National Hockey League’s Research & Development Camp in August.
