A pair of first time draft eligibles were named to Slovakia’s preliminary roster for the World Junior Championship.

Among the 15 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goalies that were invited to camp, only Marko Dano and Martin Reway were the members of the 2013 NHL Draft class to have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot at the World Juniors. The Slovaks will have to cut at least four forwards and five defensemen before they hit the ice in Ufa however so there’s no guarantee the two will make the final cut although considering what they’ve achieved so far this season, their chances are looking good.

Dano played on the team last year as a 17-year-old and missed the 2012 NHL Draft by just two months. He scored a goal and three points in six World Junior contests last year for the Slovaks. This year the diminutive five-foot-11, 183 pound sniper has three goals and five points in 26 games in the KHL.

Reway, a rookie standout of the Gatineau Olympiques,  has surprised many this season by scoring over a point-per-game thus far in his rookie campaign. The five-foot-ten, 178-pound winger has 11 goals for 25 points in 24 QMJHL games to date.
