Connor Murphy is now a member of the Sarnia Sting.

The United States’ National Team Development Program standout surprised many by forgoing his college commitment in favour of the Ontario Hockey League. Murphy had committed to Miami University in February of 2010.

In an injury plagued nine games with the NTDP last season, Murphy had three goals and four points in nine games. He added three goals in six games to help Team USA to a gold medal performance at the 2011 World Under-18 Championship, including the game-winning overtime goal against Sweden in the gold medal game.

Murphy, the son of former NHL defenseman Gord Murphy, was selected 20th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
