Defenseman Brandon Gormley has been returned to the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL by the Phoenix Coyotes earlier today.

Gormley played in one preseason game, failing to record a point in over 16 minutes of ice time in a 2-1 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Phoenix’s first round pick, 13th overall in 2010 had 13 goals and 48 points in an injury riddled season last season. A knee injury limited Gormley to just 47 games last season and forced the Murray River, PEI. native to miss the 2011 World Junior Championship.

This summer Gormley was invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp and is a strong candidate to represent his country at the 2012 World Junior Championship.
